Mariluz Garcia was elected to the Board of County Commissioners, Commission District 3, in 2022. Prior to being elected to serve as commissioner, she had been dedicated to public service working as a graduate assistant for the Dean’s Future Scholars program, a middle school counselor at Dilworth STEM Academy, an elementary school counselor at Glenn Duncan STEM Academy, and has served as the Executive Director of the Dean’s Future Scholars program at the University of Nevada Reno for ten years.
Born and raised in Elko, Nevada, Commissioner Garcia attended the University of Nevada, Reno where she earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. from the College of Education and Human Development.
